Is this your first massage? Searching for more information before you book?
Here are some frequently asked questions to help you know what to expect at Myo Wellness.
  • How do I book an appointment?
The quickest and most convenient way to secure your appointment is by visiting myowabash.com and selecting "BOOK NOW". You may also call/text Mandy at 260-330-9338 or email mandy@myowabash.com to schedule an appointment.
  • What forms of payment are accepted?
Myo Wellness accepts cash, Apple pay, Google pay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Payment is due at the end of the session. Tipping is not required nor expected.
  • Where should I park? How do I find your office?
Myo Wellness is located at 70 W. Hill Street. Parking is available in a private lot behind the building as well as along Hill Street. To access the private lot, you may use the alley that runs alongside the railroad tracks. There is a private restroom available to use before or after your session.
  • What should I wear? Will I have to undress?
This will depend upon your comfort level and the type of massage you are seeking. For treatments where lotion or oil is used, removing clothing helps the therapist apply long, gliding motions that most find very relaxing. It also helps prevent any lotions or oils from touching your clothing. You will be covered by both a sheet and blanket during the session, and I will uncover and recover each body part as I work. This is referred to as draping, and it is required by Indiana state law. If you choose to remove your underwear, rest assured you will be appropriately covered throughout the session. If for any reason you prefer to remain partially or fully clothed, I am happy to adjust the session to make that possible. There are many techniques that can be applied while remaining clothed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask prior to your session. For treatments consisting mainly of myofascial release and/or craniosacral therapy, loose fitting clothing is best. Tank tops and shorts are helpful as they allow direct access to the back and limbs as needed. Lotions and oils actually prevent the effectiveness for these techniques, so please try to avoid using similar personal products prior to your session.
  • Do I need to do anything to prepare for my appointment?
Please try to increase your water intake prior to and after your massage. While I recommend you try to drink more water every day of the year, it is especially important on the days surrounding your appointment. Staying hydrated in advance of your massage helps ensure you have healthy tissue that is ready to receive treatment. Following your massage, adequate water intake can help to replace any fluids lost from the manipulation of soft tissue.
  • What should I do during treatment?
This is actually a great question; I'm so glad you asked! My first recommendation is to practice focused breathing. This helps you connect with your body and become more aware of how it is responding to treatment. My second recommendation is to mentally assess each part of your body and focus on letting go of any tension. You may feel me move your arm or leg during the session. When this happens, do not try to assist. Focus only on keeping your muscles relaxed and your mind at ease. Finally, don't be afraid to speak up if you have a question or concern. If you need more or less pressure, if you're too cold or hot, or if you really hate the music, please do not suffer in silence! The treatment will be most effective when you are most comfortable. For some, sleep is inevitable during massage. You are welcome to drift into a peaceful slumber. I promise to let you know if you have any drool on your face after.
  • Is there any reason I shouldn't get a massage?
If you are physically ill, running a fever, nauseous, have severe pain of an unknown origin, or have a serious injury, you should not receive bodywork until you have been cleared by a physician or the illness has passed. There are many conditions that do not prevent you from receiving massage but are important for me to be aware of so that I can treat you effectively. This is why a complete health history is required prior to your first visit. If you have a condition and are unsure if you can still receive massage, please give me a call or send me an email. Your information will be kept confidential. You may also ask your physician for their written approval in advance of your appointment.
